The Remingtons: SPOTLIGHT ON LOVE by Kaira Rouda
Adult Contemporary Romance
Bad boy pop star Reed Ralston has been famous since he was a tween, pushed into the spotlight by an overbearing stage mom and appearing on a popular kids’ TV show as a singer/ songwriter. Against the odds, and with dark secrets from a troubled childhood hidden from the press, Reed has transitioned into a successful adult star with a carefully manufactured image designed to keep him on top of the charts and in the pop-culture media.
Sometimes opposites attract immediately, as Reed and Olivia discover during their spark-filled, hour-long flight to New York. But what happens when that attraction is exposed to the harsh spotlight of fame will make all the difference.
Olivia has her sights set on making it big in the modeling business, branching out from her beginnings of success in the lingerie world. It’s on her way to the interview that could change her life that she meets him…Reed Ralston, the bad boy musician who’s looking for a change-up to keep him in the spotlight. He should be untouchable, someone Olivia would never dream of enjoying to spend time with thanks to his fame and ego. But when fate had them sharing a flight to New York, she realized that he was much more than she expected, and they both felt a spark that had them wanting more.
Reed was certainly not your typical hottie-turned-jerk who allowed fame to make him something he wasn’t. He was down to earth and had a good eye for what he wanted next for his career, and he was set on having the best in the business get him there. He just never expected the key to success to be the intriguing beauty he met on his flight into town. Olivia and Reed would surely both benefit from being seen together; she’s the up-and-coming gorgeous model with no bad rep to bring him down, and he was a sure thing to get her more attention in the media. But no one ever expected them to hit it off quite so well, and navigating their way through a new relationship, keeping on task with their careers, and not letting the plan to help their image blow up in their faces proved to be daunting at times.
I loved Reed and Olivia together, they were a perfect blend of hungry for success but not jaded by fame and the whole “what can popularity get me now?” attitude. Reed was such a sweetheart when Olivia needed him, and you could feel how drawn to each other they were right from the start. That fed into some seriously hot chemistry together, and Reed was utterly delectable!!
Spotlight on Love is a fun, sexy, heartwarming novella that’s perfect to curl up to on a warm summer evening, and I look forward to more from Kaira Rouda!
Reed shook his head, hoping Olivia was as excited for their date as he was, hoping all of this stylist business would be worth it. He had a strange feeling that for her, he would be able to put up with just about anything. ~Loc 455
He hoped he hadn’t overwhelmed her, swooping her away from the restaurant and up to his hotel room in a matter of a few minutes. But here they were, and as he watched her standing in front of the windows, in awe of the view of Central Park, all he knew for certain was that he had to touch her. ~Loc 669
And she knew her belief in Reed had opened him up to loving her; just as his belief in her made her stronger, more confident as she plunged into her new life in New York. Reed was the reason everything was becoming possible and the reality was, she loved him, too. ~Loc 1399
