REVIEW: Loving Dallas (Neon Dreams #2) by @CaiseyQuinn

Loving Dallas (Neon Dreams #2) by Caisey Quinn
NA Contemporary Romance

In the second novel in bestselling author Caisey Quinn’s Neon Dreams series, a country rock band and its members embark on the rocky road to fame and find love along the way.
Dallas Lark is so close to achieving his dream of making it big in country music that he can taste it. Arriving in Nashville after signing with sexy, successful manager Mandy Lantram, his life goes from tragedy and turmoil to one lucky break after another—except it isn’t really luck because Dallas has sacrificed everything for his career, leaving behind his band, sister, best friend, and high school sweetheart, Robyn, in the pursuit of fame.

Robyn Breeland is a successful marketing coordinator and promotions specialist for a thriving liquor distributor out of Texas. She loves every aspect of her job: coming up with new ideas, traveling, hosting promotional parties and exclusive events—until it brings her face-to-face with the man who broke her heart, prompting her to erect a steel cage around it.

When their paths collide and they’re forced to work together, Dallas and Robyn realize that the old spark they thought they’d extinguished might still be a burning flame.

When I first read the synopsis for this book, my immediate response was “Wait, we have to wait even longer to find out what happened to Dixie and Gavin?!” But, I knew that Caisey Quinn would ease my suffering with an incredible story for Dallas, and she did just that! Dallas is out on his own trying to make it big, leaving behind his band to see if there’s more for him in the music biz.  He didn’t expect to cross paths with the one girl he lost his heart to years ago in the process, and suddenly his aspirations started to pale in comparison to how much Robyn made life seem perfect.

Robyn was making a name for herself promoting and marketing for a liquor distributor, and working on Jase Ward’s concert tour was a huge career opportunity.  Jase was a smooth talker and would surely have had Robyn wrapped around his finger if it weren’t for the fact that her old flame was on the same tour as an opening act.  Dallas didn’t even have to try to get her head turned in his direction, because they’d had such an intense connection when they were younger and it hadn’t died down a bit over the years.  Sparks were flying the moment they made eye contact, and I loved how easily they affected each other!  I loved Dallas already, but seeing him with Robyn just made his hotness level soar to new heights!

As with all of Caisey Quinn’s addicting stories, there is a beautiful blend of heartache, lust, drama, and intense chemistry between the characters that all comes together perfectly.  Robyn and Dallas had to work through both old and new demons, and it was one of those “my body’s saying yes, but my heart is saying no” situations that had them both torn on what to do.  Neither of them wanted to have their hearts broken again, but denying their chemistry just wasn’t an option.  It didn’t help that with his star being on the rise it seemed like there was always a black cloud over their chances of making it as a couple.  I loved seeing them work through their past to try and figure out if they could piece things back together, because it made their happy ending so very sweet!  It was a beautiful story and a perfect addition to the Neon Dreams series.  And now, it’s time to go back and kick Gavin in the tail so he and Dixie can walk off into the sunset together, so bring on Missing Dixie!!

Quotes:

Head: Sure.  Dinner sounds great.  Making peace will be good for you.  Yay, closure!
Heart: Run.  I said run.  Why aren’t you running?  For fuck’s sake, run already! ~ page 40

The boy version from my memories was sweet, polite, and somewhat distant.  The grown-up version of Dallas Walker Lark is all hard edges, and intensity—sin wrapped in sugar sprinkled with lust.  And I want to savor every single bite. ~page 63

Robyn is more than an old friend, more than an old flame.
She’s the one who blows me away and brings me back down only to turn me inside out and send me into a free fall all over again. ~page 75
