A Week with Autumn 7/6 + A time for reflection.

These are the books and goodies I received in the mail this past week. I may not get to post reviews on the blog for all the books, but this is a great way of getting Authors/books names out there. I've decided to join in on Tynga's Reviews weekly meme called Stacking the Shelves. Make sure to stop by her blog to see the other participants!

Reflection:
This year, I've had some pretty serious personal changes in my life and it's gotten me thinking seriously about my reasons that I continue to blog. Admittedly, I tend to take on many projects at the same time. That's just how I am. I'm pretty good at managing multiple things at once. But sometimes, I don't always like the stuff that goes with all these activities.

Which brings me to my point. I was a popular girl in high school, but I've always been the type of person that chooses my close friends carefully. And when I started blogging, I was really lucky to find a group of girls who shared the same passion for books that I do. I've never cared about being the biggest blog or being the most popular blogger. It's always been about the books for me. Unfortunately, I feel there's been a shift in the force over the past few years and it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable and I find myself spending too much time thinking about it. I'm confident in the true friendships I've made over the past few years in the book world, but it saddens me to see so much competition within and surrounding the blogging/author community. I tend to steer clear of cattiness and tiffs that I see constantly brewing on social media, but I've still let it affect me, which just frankly pisses me off and makes me want to punch myself in the face for even letting it get to me.

So, after spending a nice weekend with my girlfriends last weekend, I made the decision to get back to what I value the most about blogging...BOOKS. My goal is to spend more time catching up on my reading and sharing my thoughts on the books I love and less time worrying about what else is going on and who's talking about who. It's not good for me. All that said...I love meeting new people who share the same interest in books and I'm tremendously grateful for those of you that follow me. I just need to keep it about the books.

Spiel complete. Read on, everyone!

  5. Yes to the Yes on this post! I have been following your blog for quite sometime and have always valued your opinions on the books you review. I feel like most blogs these days are solely focused on having high followers or being the biggest instead of having great quality reviews. Just keep on doing what you've always done and your loyal followers will stick with you.

P.S - It was so great to meet you at Book Bash.
