My Take:
I was asked to review the second book in the series for an upcoming tour, but needed to read this one first. I've heard good things about Christine Bell's books, so I was anxious to get started. I certainly wasn't disappointed. This book was HOT!
Poor Lacey walks in on her husband AT THEIR WEDDING getting it on with one of her bridesmaids and childhood friend. Of course, he tries to talk his way out of it, but thank goodness Lacey had the sense to keep walking. So, what's a girl to do after something like that? Well, her best friend's brother, Galen, is at the wedding and he offers up a ride home. He takes her to his childhood home where they reminisce about old times. See...Lacey always had a crush on Galen, but he was her best friends older brother. He picked on her and acted like he didn't like her. However, he did. Especially now that they're adults. Galen offers to take Lacey away from the madness. He talks her in to keeping her honeymoon plans and decides to go with her. Hmm....see where this is going???
So, they're in lovely Puerto Rico enjoying the uh...sights. Ultimately, they can't keep their hands off each other. Of course, that doesn't happen until she's certain the mess of her wedding has somewhat been taken care of. Unfortunately, her mother drops in on their blissful week, ruining everything for Lacey and Galen. Galen returns home leaving Lacey feeling dejected once again. *Sigh* Poor Lacey.
No worries though. Lacey gets everything straightened out and Galen and Lacey manage to work things out. And work it out they did. Down for the Count is a short read, but really packs a punch. Pun intended. If you haven't guessed, this book is sexy, sexy, sexy. Naturally, I really enjoyed the sexy. Galen is really hot and sure knows how to use his tongue.
Overall, I really liked this one. It was fast, super sexy, and had a great flow. Down for the Count got me really excited about reading Down and Dirty, the second book in the series, which I've heard is even better! WOOT! If you need a fast steamy read, check this one out!
