it's almost
time for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
Erin's Take:
After a wait that seemed endless, diving back into the gifted Tahereh Mafi's incredible dystopian world was everything I'd hoped for and so much more!! Shatter Me was an absolute work of art with it's poetic narration and heartwarming romance, and while Unravel Me was a continuation of the emotions in some ways, it also carried us beyond the walls of Juliette's mind and into the world that she's been closed off to for so very long. Whether or not she was ready to be a part of it like she needed to be was something else entirely.Even in the relative safety of Omega Point, Juliette and Adam seemed destined to be torn apart, and it was so hard to see them both so lost in this new place. There is so much emotion and passion to their feelings for each other; I love how you can almost feel the intensity of how Adam affects her as they share some seriously steamy stolen moments together. I couldn't help but get caught up in it despite the fact that yeah, there's a war going on and they needed to wake up and look at the bigger picture.
Juliette struggles so hard to find her place amongst untrusting strangers in a world she doesn't know, but they needed her to step up. She's powerful, beyond what she's willing to admit and recognize, and they need her to harness that and use it if they want to have a prayer of bringing down the Reestablishment. I was thrilled to see Juliette, the phoenix rising from the ashes, suddenly embrace what she's capable of and turn around to use it, and I'm SO excited to see what this girl is going to be capable of when all is said and done!!
Then there's the dreaded love triangle, thanks to Tahereh Mafi creating two boys who are both entirely worthy of love and redemption. There was plenty of heartache to go around as well as some very steamy moments that had me so torn! Adam and Juliette are meant for each other without a doubt, but I was also completely drawn in by Warner with this book. We see so much more of his humanity and what he's endured in his life, and he absolutely wormed his way into my heart. I had tears in my eyes for all three of them, it is going to be a heartbreaking resolution no matter what the outcome!
There was rarely a dull moment at Omega Point, and so many secrets were revealed that will drastically change the path of the war. My stomach was in knots over the danger that was looming in the distance, especially from the ultimate antagonist commander Anderson. There is a huge battle up ahead, and I am so anxious to know what happens next for these characters that I just love. Once again I'm in awe of just how incredible this series is, and as I settle in for another year-long wait for the next book, all I can say is- if you haven't read this series yet, what in the world are you waiting for??!!

I'm so worried to read this book. I love Adam and I can't stand the thought of Warner. I'm glad you loved this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared, for the exact same reason as Val! I need to suck it up and try.
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
Well I can say you'll probably like Warner a lot more after this one, but it's absolutely a must-read! I'm completely torn but it was incredible.
ReplyDeleteI loved this one. I wavered a little on my allegiance to Adam, so I went back and re-read Shatter Me afterward and now I'm back on track! I do understand Warner a little better and now I understand who the *real* villain is and he is VERY creepy. Warner is still a villain but I see him as more of a pseudovillain and I wonder what he'll be up to in the next book. T Mafi kind of screwed with my head with Destroy Me and Unravel Me!
