Naked (The Blackstone Affair 1) by Raine Miller-Erotic Contemporary Romance
Kindle format given by Atria Books for review
Brynne Bennett is living the good life. An American art student at the University of London and part-time photographic model, she’s putting her life back on track with school and lots of hard work. When ultra successful London businessman, Ethan Blackstone, buys her nude portrait, he isn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer. He wants Brynne in his bed and makes plans to keep her there no matter what. His dominant nature captivates and ensnares despite the demons she carries inside her. But there are secrets in this relationship. Huge ones. Can Ethan free Brynne from the past that has marked her? Will Brynne let him or will the specters tormenting her resurface to destroy them both…
My Take:
Ok, here's what I know about Naked: there's a lot of good sex. I expected it, but I was looking for the story too. And there is a story, but I don't have many answers yet. I guess it's a good thing I have the second book ready to go.
Brynne is still kind of a mystery. Something happened in her past, but I don't know much about it at this point. All I know is that Ethan has been hired to watch her. Now, she didn't know that he was guarding her. She just thought he was a super hot guy that suddenly became her boyfriend. Yes, it happened like that and it happened quickly. Despite the speediness of their relationship, I think there's more to the story, so it didn't bother me much.
Ethan is a take charge kind of guy and sexy as hell. He also has a background that I think I'll learn more about in the next book. I believe the second book is told in his POV. Looking forward to that. So, what makes Ethan different than say, Christian or Gideon? Well, Ethan runs a security firm. He has a military background. He's wealthy now, but wasn't born into that life. There does seem to be depth to his character that intrigues me. So again, I look forward to All In.
As for the sex....I was totally into it. It's not even that the sex was unique or overly kinky. It was pretty vanilla actually, but something about Ethan just made it sexy. Now, there are hints that more kink may come into their love nest at some point, so we'll have to see.
Overall, there were some plot holes that I felt needed to be clarified, but I really enjoyed it. I think the answers I'm seeking will be revealed over time. And with that...I'm going to dive in to the next book now!
Quotes:
~"Because I want you again. I want in you again. I want to make you come with my cock so deep you'll never forget I was there. I want to come inside you, Brynne, and feel that with you."-Loc 535
~"You are the only thing I want to smell, and right now I need the taste of you in my mouth."-Loc 1160

This sounds good, but I don't like that it's lacking in story. I suppose since it's a series it's not a big deal, but I though the sex is great to read about, I really like a good solid story to go along with it.

ReplyDeleteGlad you liked this. I've heard good things!
Hmmmm....I might need more story than this one has.

plot holes, vagina holes.. whats the difference. lol
ReplyDeleteI thought the second book was not good at all -- it is from Ethan's POV, which was good at first but he seriously uses the same phrases over and over and over (like every other page it seemed!) We'll see -- it left on a cliffhanger so I'm still going to read the third!
