Champagne Toast (Love of My Life 2) by Melissa Brown Review & Giveaway

Champagne Toast (Love of My Life 2) by Melissa Brown-Adult Contemporary Romance
Kindle format given by author for review/blog tour

Kate Armour and Evan Maxwell fell hard and fast for each other while attending college. Their once passionate and loving relationship ended when old scars eventually tore them apart. Two years after their breakup, they're each struggling to piece together what went wrong in an attempt to move forward.

Kate, a no-nonsense bartender, must face her past while attempting to focus on her future.

Evan is stifled by his bitter heart, which threatens each and every relationship he attempts after walking away from Kate.
Will life offer them a second chance at love or are old patterns simply too hard to break?

My Take:
In Bouquet Toss, I fell pretty hard for Evan. In fact, he pretty much stole the book for me. I looked forward to the scenes that included him in that book and I wanted to know more about him. Well, I got my wish in Champagne Toast. Evan was everything I had hoped he would be.

Champagne Toast takes you through the story of Evan and Kate. They fell in love in college, dated for years, but sometimes your past can come back to harm you. Kate had made mistakes in her past. Mistakes that she was open about with Evan. While he loved her deeply, sometimes you can't forget the things you learn about a person. Unfortunately for Evan and Kate, their relationship fell apart because they each had insecurities about the relationship.

So, not only did I get to see what happened with them in the past, but I got to see how they came back together. See, neither one lost their love for the other. I think it was a matter of timing, learning to trust, and I think they each had some personal growth that needed to happen. Especially Kate. I was proud when she started to feel more confidence in herself and her work. Everything began to come together for her and them then.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I felt like it was a pleasant, easy read. I will say that this book had a better flow to me than the first one. I also liked the characters a bit more. BUT, I did enjoy seeing the little snippet of Daphne and Tanner. If you are looking for a true romance, check this one out. It's sweet and warmed my heart.
