But as he waits for his prey to blindly step into his carefully laid trap, his overwhelming hunger for blood is triggered when he saves a beautiful art historian.

Kerstyn Ingmar’s life was normal and straight up boring until the night she is rescued by the dangerously sexy, powerfully mesmerizing, Dimitri. Unable to resist his diamond blue eyes and intense kisses, she is drawn into his world of darkness and closer to her impending doom.

While their desire consumes them, Dimitri is haunted by images of a bloody and deadly future. As his enemies draw near, he must find a way to save his mate from her destiny before fate destroys them both.-Goodreads

*Excerpt*
“You’ve healed,” she whispered. Her voice was rough and her throat ached from her screams. “Your wounds are gone. That…that is impossible.”
“Not for me,” he grated. Her eyes narrowed. “What are you?” He dropped his head. Why now? Why did it have to happen this way? He cursed, damning Fate for the tricks she played. He hadn’t wanted it to happen this way. He wanted them to take their time, to get to know one another before he shared his secret with her. Now he was cornered. He had to tell her orno. He would not erase her memory; he could not disrespect her that way. He would not take the coward’s way out.
He had to tell her. His heart clenched. What if she rejected him? What if she hated him? What if he
repulsed her? She was his mate, but that was no guarantee that she would understand, that she would stay with him or that she would love him. “What are you?” she demanded again, her voice shaking. Her thoughts screamed at him. Vampire. Vampire. Vampire! He forced his gift aside, shoving it back into the darkness of his mind. “I think you already know,” he said before pulling his shirt closed.

My Book Boyfriend 2/29 Clayton "Clay" Danvers

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme created by Missie atThe Unread Reader.

This week My Book Boyfriend is Clayton “Clay” Danvers from The Women of the Otherworld Series by Kelley Armstrong. Clay is one of the first Paranormal characters that I fell in love with. He’s slightly over 6 feet tall, well built, blond curly hair, blue eyes, and is the Enforcer of his Werewolf Pack. Not only does Clay have all the looks, but he’s brilliant as well. He has a PHD in Anthropology. Clay was found by Pack leader, Jeremy Danvers, as a child. Jeremy adopted Clay and helped him adapt to pack life. Clay fell in love with Elena during her college years. They have an intense, loving, sexy, and humorous relationship. Clay and Elena’s relationship makes me love him even more! If you haven’t read this series, check it out! It’s an Adult Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy. My Clay is played by actor Josh Lucas.

~“Are you the welcoming committee? Or has Jeremy finally chained you up to the front gate where you belong?"- Elena

"I missed you too." - Clay

~“Uh-uh. We've played this game before. I hide. You never seek. I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but I'm beginning to sense a pattern."

- Clay to Elena”

~“As I recall, I was still dressed when I fell asleep."
"Just making sure you were comfortable."
"And making yourself equally comfortable, I see.”

~“Making me choose? Darling, we live with the guy. We share a house, bank accounts, even vacations. We're never alone and I've never heard you utter one word of complaint. You have never asked me to choose, and you have no idea how grateful I am for that, because if I ever had to pick, it would be you, no matter what that meant for the Pack.”

~“Did you use a chainsaw?" Joey said. "I seem to recall you like chainsaw."

"There wasn't a power outlet." Clay turned to me. "That's what I want for Father's Day, darling. A gas powered chainsaw.”

I really hope you meet Clay! He’s so delicious in oh so many ways!

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park Review

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park-YA Contemporary Romance
Kindle format purchased on Amazon

Summary:
Julia Seagle leaves Ohio to start college in Boston. She’s excited to leave her small town behind in search of a new adventure. However, when she reaches Boston, her housing falls through. With luck from a old friend of her mother’s, Julie is able to find a place to stay.

The Watkins family is interesting. There is Erin, Roger, Finn, Matthew, and Celeste. Erin is a professor at Harvard. Roger is in marine biology. Finn is off traveling the world. Matt is a brainiac student at MIT. Then there is Celeste. She’s 13 and somewhat eccentric. Julie falls into this family’s routine fairly easily, but notices that things may not be as they appear. She forms a friendship with Finn via Facebook. As she adjusts to life and college in Boston, she confides in Finn. They develop a friendship with hope of more. The problem is that Finn doesn’t know when he can get home.

Meanwhile, Julie and Matt spend a lot of time together. They’ve come to rely on each other and basically co-parent Celeste. When unexpected events put Matt and Julie in bed together, their relationship changes and secrets are revealed.

My Take:
First of all, I related to this book immediately because I am from Ohio, moved away from home to go to college, and also lived in Boston. Boston is my most favorite place that I've lived! I loved being able to visualize where they were. In fact, I fell in love with my husband while living in Boston and one of our first dates was in Harvard Square! I lived in the Cambridge area, so I almost felt like I was walking along with them throughout the story.

This family is extremely detached from each other and highly dysfunctional even though they appear normal. Once Julie realizes that something strange is going on, she assumes the role of mediator and caretaker of the family. I loved how she interacted with Celeste. Celeste and Flat Finn were favorites of mine. Even though Celeste is different, I felt like she almost stole the show. She had incredible insight for a thirteen year old girl.

Julie and Finn’s emails to each other were funny and incredibly sweet. I loved the status updates. I equally liked Matt and Julie’s relationship. I must confess that I had the story predicted early on, but I loved the journey getting to the end. Julie handles the turn of events as expected, but I absolutely ADORED the ending. I laughed, I cried, and this story has left an imprint on my heart. For more information go to: Jessica Park. 5 out of 5 stars

Destined to Fail by Samantha March Review

Destined to Fail by Samantha March-Chick Lit
Kindle format given by author for review/blog tour

Summary:
Jasmine Jones is headed off to college and will be rooming with her best friend. She also has a great new boyfriend at home. Life is good. Then it isn’t. Jasmine’s best friend finds out she’s pregnant and decides to move home to be with her abusive boyfriend. JJ is left feeling angry and frustrated by her friend’s decision. In the meantime, she’s made some good friends and fortunately has a place to stay with them. As the girls get to know each other better, they all reveal their own secrets of current and past abusive situations. Nate and JJ’s relationship continues to grow and she finds out she is also pregnant. Jasmine feels as though her world is falling apart. Nothing ever seems to go well in her life, from her abusive childhood to this unexpected pregnancy. Through all of this heartache, she finds the determination to bring something good out of the hurt.

My Take:
WOW! There is some pretty serious trauma going on here. What should be a wonderful time in a girls life, turns out to be pretty darn painful. Jasmine has certainly been through the ringer. She’s had some terrible things happen to her as a child. It’s amazing she was able to come out of it somewhat normally. I absolutely could not imagine having to deal with some of the issues she faced at that age. I like to think I was mature then, but I was no where near ready to be a parent. I felt like she handled the adversity well and she maturely considered all of her options. It made me feel empowered as a woman to see her pull through these difficult situations and make it positive. She became such a great inspiration and role model.

I loved seeing how her relationship with Nate progressed and how she really found love for the first time. I know this may sounds like a heavy book, and truthfully, it is. However, I recommend it because there are difficult issues here, but it ended on a positive note and showed us that there is hope for a better future. Most definitely an inspirational story! The only negative thing I would have to say, is that it was a little slow to get started, but about halfway through, the development of the story became stronger and had a smoother flow for me. Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades 1) by E.L. James Review

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades 1) by E.L. James-Adult Contemporary Romance/Erotica
Kindle Format purchased on Amazon.
Warning: This novel contains explicit sexual content. Intended for a mature audience.

Summary:
Anastasia Steele gets coerced into giving an interview by her roommate. The subject is none other than successful, young, entrepreneur Christian Grey. When they meet, Ana feels completely insecure and intimidated by Christian. There are some intense moments during the interview and Ana is convinced she will never see this man again.

Then, Christian shows up at the shop she works at and makes arrangements for her to get photos to compliment the interview. Ana is completely blown away and so excited to see him again. After the photo shoot, neither one of them can seem to stop thinking about each other.

As their relationship develops, Ana learns about Christian’s unique sexual preferences and lifestyle. She’s not sure she can accept the arrangement as Christian wants it. Their sexual relationship is definitely explosive, but Ana is looking for a deeper commitment from Christian. Based on his dark past, Christian is unsure that he can commit to Ana in the way she wants. Ana is falling for Christian and must decide if what he can give her will be enough or if she needs to let go.

My Take:
There are simply not enough words for me to explain how much I loved this book. I kept seeing the book around and the rave reviews. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure I would be able to get past his sexual preferences in order to enjoy it. I was worried it be like reading porn. Don’t get me wrong, I read erotica and love reading good sex, but some things are a bit foreign to me. LOL!!! Let me say that this is absolutely a LOVE STORY! In fact, I will be as bold to say that this series has moved up to an all-time favorite status for me.

I love how their relationship develops. Yes, he is this big millionaire, but the connection is so real that you feel like you are hearing a true story about how a couple met. I adore Ana and her initial innocence. I admire the fact that even after she is forced to make a decision, she stands by her feelings and isn’t afraid to say it. On to Christian. When I think about Christian, all I can do is smile and get a tingly feeling all over! He’s arrogant, complicated, manipulative, absolutely adorable, sensitive, loving, thoughtful, and possibly the sexiest man I’ve ever read about!

The sex was steamy and exactly what I like to see in an erotic novel. It wasn’t degrading; it was hot and loving. This series is actually hard for me to review, because I just can’t describe how this series has personally affected me. I loved it so much that I read all three books within three days! If you haven’t read this book, please give it a chance. This novel is one of the best and most beautiful love stories I have EVER read! I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Definite re-read! For more information, go to: E.L. James. 5 out of 5 stars

Double Clutch (Brenna Blixen 1) by Liz Reinhardt Review

Double Clutch (Brenna Blixen 1) by Liz Reinhardt-Mature YA Contemporary Romance
Kindle Format provided by author for review

Summary:
Brenna moves back to the US after spending a year abroad. She’s decided to go to school half day at the regular high school and half at the technical school down the road. On her first day, she meets dark, mysterious, handsome, and outgoing Saxon at her regular school. Then she goes to her tech classes and meets Jake. Jake is sweet, quiet, and flat out beautiful. The guys are total opposites, but Brenna is attracted to them both. Once she gets to know them both better, she feels like she’s got a stronger connection to Jake. They start dating and Brenna learns what love feels like. The problem is that Saxon won’t leave her alone. He’s stuck on her and isn’t afraid to show it. Now, Jake and Saxon have a past. They were once best friends, but have had a falling out and can’t seem to recover from it. Brenna finds that she is stuck in the middle.

My Take:

I had seen this book come across my recommended reads and had seen favorable reviews by fellow bloggers, but hadn’t had a chance to read it. Then, LR contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing it for her. I jumped at the chance and I’m so glad I did! I read this book in a single day! I loved this story! I liked that the issues and feelings are realistic for their age group. I remember what I did at that age and Brenna’s behavior is very accurate for a curious 16 year old girl. The relationships certainly take center stage and I love that, but I also enjoyed seeing her relationship with her parents. I know that feeling of not letting them down, but wanting to be independent as well. It was nice to see Brenna make choices for herself and handle the consequences. Let me just say that I ADORE Jake! I liked how honest Jake and Saxon were about their feelings for her and how she was forced to come clean about her own feelings AND actions. I loved this book so much, that I have rearranged my reading schedule over the next few weeks, so that I can read the sequel, Junk Miles! Highly highly recommended read!
