Losing It by Cora Carmack-New Adult Contemporary Romance
Kindle format given by author for review/blog tour/ARC

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

My Take:
I had seen this book around the blogging world and knew that I must have it. Then the opportunity came to participate in the tour and I jumped for it. I'm so glad that I did. It exceeded my expectations for this debut novel.

First off, I love the name Bliss. Having a unique name myself, I always appreciate when others do as well. While I couldn't relate to Bliss personally, I really liked her. She's funny, confident, and despite some normal girl insecurities, seems to have solid sense of self. I wasn't expecting the humor in the story, but there were many times I was cracking up. I love when I find a story that can make me laugh, as well as swoon.

Now, for the love of all that is swoony...we have Garrick. I could hear his accent in my head while I was reading and it was making me prrrr... Garrick is not only sexy, but he is truly a great guy. Bliss and Garrick's relationship certainly starts off on an interesting foot, but I appreciated that Garrick seemed to stay true to himself and his feelings throughout the story.

As for the story, I felt like it was very realistic. I mean, can you imagine meeting a handsome/sexy stranger in a bar, make out with him, then go to school and find out he's your new teacher??? Awkward doesn't even begin to describe how I would feel about that. Bliss and Garrick handle it pretty well though. Bliss is embarrassed about running out on Garrick, but he never made her feel bad about it. He just didn't understand what he did wrong. Neither one of them can stop thinking about each other, but the fact that he is her teacher puts a block on having an out in the open relationship. Plus, Bliss hasn't ever really felt like this about someone before and her feelings make her a bit nervous. Garrick is patient and understanding with her. He really made my heart melt.

I absolutely adored the ending and the epilogue. The ending was prefect for Bliss and Garrick. It showed that Bliss was able to hold on to her beliefs, but also learn to take some chances with her heart and career. The epilogue left me smiling. I'm a big fan of the epilogue. I love to see how things end up.

If you like a good love story with some steam, this is a perfect fit for you. I certainly look forward to reading more of Cora Carmack's work.

  1. This book was awkwardly awesome. Loved it! Cant wait for Chads book!!!

  2. One of the first boys I dated was my bestfriends brother. It was so awkward hanging out with both of them because of the different types of relationships we had but in the end it didn't really work out so we kind of all became friends.

  3. I was really not one to "date" but more fell into my relationships to the point it felt normal to be with each other. But I can say that spending time with 2 guys that worked oppisite shifts was kinda awkward wasn't a good idea to have a guy as a roommate and have my BF push me to live in his apartment ;)

  4. My date was with someone I only meet online, but lived in the town next to me. I knew enough about him to know he was a widower. When he picked me up to go on our date, I got into his car. My eyes had to have "bugged" out, because inside his car, he had his entire car decorated as a memorial to his late wife. Complete with pictures hung on the interior, candles where the cup holders are, memorabilia on the back seat. It was more than awkward, it was creepy!

  5. I totally LOVED this book! I couldn't get enough of it! :D

Roses are red, violets are black
You'd look good with a knife in your back
