My Take:

I'm sitting here reviewing my notes and I'm getting overheated again! Now it's no surprise that I like me some steam and I've seen hints of Nichole's swoon abilities in her other books, but WOW! Not only did she create a delicious story, but she created characters that I fell in love with. 

I am a character reader. I have to like the characters to really get sucked into a story. Well, Meena was a hit for me pretty quickly. Simply the fact that she is a sister mermaid (shhhh....don't tell anyone, I'm a mermaid) won me over. But really, I liked her because she is a strong character. 

Meena is a bit naive to some things. Her parents have kept her a bit sheltered because of the fact that they didn't want anyone finding out her secret. However, she's not afraid to try new things. She's curious about people and also about finding out more about her world. As an mermaid orphan, she's never been exposed to that world. She understands her connections to other sea life, like her dolphin mates, but yearns to find out more. 

When Blake enters into the scene, I honestly wasn't sure I would like him. He's introduced in a way that makes it seem that he has a womanizing past, but what I saw was a really good guy. Blake takes on a lot of family responsibility despite the fact that he wants to take his life in a different direction. He can't wait to get off the island and start living his life. However, as a result of a confrontation, he ends up working for Meena's parents. The instant they meet, he's captivated by her. Meena, on the other hand, eyes him with caution. As they spend more time together and as he learns her secret, a strong love develops. 

I don't want to say much more about them or their story, but I will tell you this....Meena and Blake are HOT! They both accept their attraction to each other and act on it naturally. While it wasn't immediate, I was happy that I didn't have to wait too long to get some action. ;) 

I know some of you may be hesitant about reading a story about mermaids, but I'm here to tell you that it's so much more. Yes, she is a mermaid, but there is a great back story and a strong overall plot. I'm excited that there will be more books in the series. I grew quite attached to Jacen and Mireille. I look forward to reading more about Meena and her family's world!

If you're looking for a fresh new story with lovable characters that has great romance, this is the perfect book for you! Recommended for mature readers.
