Fate (Fate 1) by Elizabeth Reyes Review

Fate (Fate 1) by Elizabeth Reyes-New Adult Contemporary Romance
Kindle format given by author for review

When Rose tagged along with her big sister to a baby shower the last thing she expected was to meet a guy. But this wasn’t just any guy. This was the exciting, sexy as sin, way out of her league black sheep of his family--Vincent Moreno. Even more surprising, this heart-stopping bad boy seemed interested in her.
Fate always had a way of interfering in Vince’s best-laid plans. His forced attendance to his annoyingly perfect cousin’s baby shower was no different. He was sure to be bored out of his skull, but instead, he met sweet little Rosie Zendejas.

What begins as a unlikely friendship between two very different teens turns into one of the most intense and passionate relationships that neither ever saw coming. But just like it had so many times in Vince’s troubled past, Fate steps in once again, threatening to take away the one thing he can’t seem to even breathe without now—Rose.

Fate is a Moreno Brothers spinoff series.

My Take:
I honestly didn't think it was possible, but Vincent Moreno stole my heart. I now have a Moreno tie. Alex and Vincent. Hmmm....the thoughts are spinning. Two Moreno's, one me. Could be interesting. Sorry. I have a gutter mind.

Anyway, Fate tells the tale of Rose and Vincent. They met at a baby shower in Making You Mine. Rose is Grace's younger sister. Grace is Sal Moreno's wife. Vincent is Sal's cousin. Am I confusing you? I hope not. I just want to give you an idea of who everyone is and their ties to the Moreno's. At the time they met, they were both in high school. Well, this book tells the story of what happens after the baby shower to the present.

I liked Rose in MYM, so it was no surprise that I connected with her in this book. What I really liked though, was seeing her character grow. We see them become adults. Rose is a really focused person. She's loyal, dedicated, and when she loves, she loves deeply. She's pretty innocent when it comes to boys, but Vincent is just the guy to steal her heart.

Vincent Moreno....I knew he was going to be a character I would love. He's had a bit of trouble in the past, but really wants to turn his life around. After he meets Rose, he's even more determined to make his life better and stop getting into trouble. Needless to say, because of his past, Sal puts up some pretty hefty rules. Rightly so in my mind. Even after he and Rose are in a committed relationship, Vince can't seem to shake that dark cloud of trouble that looms over him. What happens next, well, you'll have to read to find out. I will say this, Vince makes a choice to help his brother, but it ultimately hurts him.

I'd like to briefly mention that I was THRILLED to see the cast of the Moreno's return in small bits. I missed those guys and gals. I am excited about the development of The Fate Series. I'm guessing we will get Lorenzo's story and while I didn't initially like him, he definitely grew on me. I can't wait to see what kind of girl will capture his heart.

One of the things I loved the most was how the story developed. We start off in the present, but we go back and get to watch their relationship grow. Their love for each other stays strong. Yes, they have challenges, but they never lose their feelings for each other.

Elizabeth Reyes is one of my favorite authors. She really knows how to dig into your heart with her amazing characters. I was so happy that she created this spin off. The Moreno Brother's Series is fantastic and I was sad to see it end, so this series made me happy again. *sigh*

If you are a fan of Mature YA Contemporary Romance, Elizabeth Reyes is a must-read author for you.
