FLIGHT (The Cresent Chronicles 1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy Review & Giveaway

FLIGHT (The Crescent Chronicles 1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy-YA Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Kindle format given by author for review/blog tour

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

My Take:
I've read the first two books in Alyssa's Afterglow Trilogy and really enjoyed her writing style, so I expected to like this book as well. I have to say that this book exceeded my expectations. I found it hard to put down and I got irritated when I was interrupted. FLIGHT was a refreshing book with a different spin on the paranormal.

Allie was likable from the start. She's healing a broken heart and has sworn off guys. She's getting ready to head off to college in the fall and has no interest in starting up a new relationship. Then she sees Levi. She tries to avoid their attraction, but she simply can't. As a relationship develops, she learns things about Levi that both intrigue her and scare her. Levi is an important figure in his world and she soon realizes that she's become more entangled than she even understood.

While Levi was appealing, I also felt that he was deceptive. I understood why made the decisions he did, but he made me mad. I did appreciate that the course of their relationship was relatively short, but I didn't feel like it was rushed. Allie seemed to take her time letting Levi into her heart. Levi, on the other hand, was sure about Allie from the beginning. He was sexy, interesting, and intriguing. I can't wait to learn more about him and his society.

I'm typically more of a character driven reader, but this book to me, was heavier on plot. I did like the characters, but I found that I was more connected with the actual story than the characters. I was disappointed the book was over. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series, FOCUS, to release in January. I've already added it to my TBR.

If you are a fan of world building, genuine story lines, action, and romance...this is the book for you. Can't wait to see what happens next!
