Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard. But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My Take:
Let me begin by saying that now that I've met Sztella and Pepe in person, the entire time I was reading this book, I pictured them clearly as Daemon and Katy. It was almost surreal. Yes, they are even more gorgeous in person. Anyway, I'll admit that I had high expectations going into this book. I am a fan of Jennifer's work, but I don't typically read books about aliens. However, I loved Obsidian and couldn't wait to see how the story was going to develop.
I really felt like we got inside Daemon's head a bit more in this book. He shows a different, softer side to his personality. I think he wanted to show Katy that he was serious about his feelings for her regardless of the consequences. That said, I was happy to see that we still saw his snarky personality too. He wouldn't be Daemon without it.
Katy is a solid female lead. I appreciate her confidence, strength, and determination. I understand why she is reluctant to open up to Daemon, but dang....how can she stay so controlled? I would be salivating just looking at him. In fact, I did. I had to try really hard to NOT stare at Pepe. I digress. I had almost forgotten that Katy is a blogger. I loved all the blog references too! So fun.
Without revealing too many spoilers, I'll just say that ONYX was everything I had hoped it would be and more. You will learn a lot and be overwhelmed with surprises! If you think you knew what would happen next...guess again!
For your viewing pleasure!
I forgot how pretty he was...*pets screen*
ReplyDeleteSo glad you loved it! And lol at what Heather said!
ReplyDeleteGreat review. Thanks for the eye candy. I loved this book. I was kind of worried because so many people talked about the big cliffhanger at the end, but I didn't think it was that big of a cliffhanger - now if he wouldn't have gotten Katy back or something, I probably would have died. Still dying to read Opal, but I was very satisfied with the ending of Onxy.
ReplyDeleteI am dying to read this series. I just read JLA's Cursed recently and loved it, so this series is high up on my list.
ReplyDeleteGreat review!! I loved this book too. Still totally jealous you met Pepe and Sztella! They seem so sweet. (And freaking gorgeous!!)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked this one. You know how I feel about it. And I will be forever jealous that you met those two.
