Just One Drop (The Grey Wolves 3) by Quinn Loftis Review

Just One Drop (The Grey Wolves 3) by Quinn Loftis-YA Paranormal Romance
Kindle format given by author for review

Summary:
Jennifer Adams, best friend to Jacque Pierce and Sally Morgan, spicy, out spoken, a little crazy and human...or so she thought. Jen has just found out that human DNA is not the only thing that resides in her veins, she happens to share that little pesky werewolf gene, although it isn't more than just a drop. Now that she and her friends are living in Romania with Fane's pack, she is also oh so conveniently stuck with the object of her affection, the fur ball Decebel.

Drawn to each other by something they don't understand Jen finds herself frustrated by the lack of mating signs between her and said fur ball. Not only is she dealing with that not so un-frustrating problem, she now has been informed that because of that little drop of werewolf blood in her she is now required to attended a multi-pack gathering for un-mated wolves. This type of gathering hasn't taken place in over a century but with a shortage of females among the werewolf population the males are getting worried they won't ever find their true mates.

Meanwhile Decebel struggles with the emotions he is feeling towards Jen. He tries to keep his distance but there is just something about the mouthy blonde that keeps him coming back for more of her verbal abuse that he just can't seem to get enough of...go figure.

My Take:
Finally, finally, I get some full attention on Jen and Dec! WOOHOO! There was a terrific lead in to this book and I knew without a doubt that I would love it.

Jennifer Adams is one of my favorite female characters. I mean, up there with Rose from Vampire Academy! She's hysterical, loyal, honest, and loving. Jen keeps the group together. Jen has such a great attitude in tough situations. Not only does she have to adjust to living in another country, she's just learned that she has some wolf blood in her. Jen handles it all in stride until the wolf packs decide a "Gathering" needs to take place. The "Gathering" brings all the unmated males and unmated females together. Jen is surprised to be included in the event, because her blood is so diluted.  Not to mention the fact that a certain Alpha has laid claim on her.

Dec is technically the Beta of the pack, but is an Alpha by right. He's rough, tough, protective, loyal, and boy is he sexy. He's drawn to Jen. He can't seem to stay away from her, nor can he explain why he feels like she is his mate. Dec was hurt long ago and has guarded his heart from everyone since then, so as Jen finds a place in his heart, he's nervous about the whole thing.

Dec is less than happy about the "Gathering", which in a way was a blessing because it made him own up to his feelings for Jen. There was  a point in the book that I had to call my friend Amanda to see if he was ever going to step up and lay his claim on Jen. I mean, he was really ticking me off. LOL There is so much sexual tension between the two that it honestly got my heart rate going more than once. I just needed to see him go for it! It was frustrating for ME, let alone how Jen must have felt. (Oh wait, they aren't real. LOL) I want to see this couple make it so badly. They really are a great match.

My only quirk about the book was that I felt like there needs to be cleaner scene separations. Now, I do have an ARC, so maybe in the published version, that's been clearly done. Other than that, it's perfect.

The story continues to fascinate me and keep me enthralled. The ending nearly left me on the floor. I was so upset that I picked up Out of the Dark immediately when I finished.

Author Quinn Loftis, once again, delivers a fantastic continuation of a series that is quickly becoming a favorite. If you are looking for a fabulous paranormal romance series to start, check this one out. The books keep getting better and better!

  3. I haven't heard of this series before and I didn't used to really be into werewolves at all, but after reading a few good wolf books I've been kind of in the mood for more. I think I'll check this one out!
