Dante's Girl (The Paradise Diaries 1) by Courtney Cole Interview with Reece & Giveaway!

I have spent every summer since I was ten years old with my father in London. Every summer, since I was ten years old, has been uneventful and boring.

Until this year.

And this year, after a freak volcanic eruption strands me far from home, I have learned these things:

1. I can make do with one outfit for three days before I buy new clothes.

2. If I hear the phrase, “You’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto,” even one more time, I might become a homicidal maniac.

3. I am horribly and embarrassingly allergic to jellyfish.

4. I am in love with Dante Giliberti, who just happens to be the beautiful, sophisticated son of the Prime Minister of a Mediterranean paradise.

5. See number four above. Because it brings with it a whole slew of problems and I’ve learned something from every one of them.

Let’s start with the fact that Dante’s world is five light-years away from mine. He goes to black-tie functions and knows the Prime Minister of England on a first name basis. I was born and raised on a farm in Kansas and wear cut-off jeans paired with cowboy boots. See the difference?

But hearts don’t care about differences. Hearts want what they want. And mine just wants to be Dante’s girl.

My heart just might be crazy.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Reece for an interview recently and here's what we talked about.

Autumn: I'm so happy to meet you, Reece! Just a few questions and then you can get back to Dante. What do you like the least about traveling?

Reece: Oh my word. How much time do you have? I hate the skeezy airport bathrooms. I hate the non-existent leg room on planes (I’m a tall Kansas chick, you know), I hate the horrible TSA agents. I don’t know why they think they are the Be-All, End-All, but they do. I hate flying period. I’m always afraid I’m going to die a fiery death. And now I sound downright hateful, don’t I? Sorry. L Okay, so I should end this question on a positive note. Um. Oh- I know. I don’t mind traveling on the Gilibertis’ new yacht. It’s fabulous. And would you like to know what they named it? The Sunflower. No. Lie.

Autumn: Awe! That is so sweet! Speaking of Dante…what are your first thoughts when I say his name?

Reece: Sigh. I love his name. Don’t you? (Autumn nods) My first thoughts are that he is beautiful. Because he is. Inside and out. He’s beautiful.

Autumn: That he is! His accident must have been so scary for you. How did you feel after Dante’s car accident?

Reece: I couldn’t even think straight. Everything was a blur. To this day, I barely remember the car ride with Mia to the hospital. It was the single most terrifying day of my life. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. Not even Elena.

Autumn: *scrunches face* Elena. What is one thing you would do differently if you could?

Reece: I wouldn’t step on that stupid jellyfish. OMGosh. How embarrassing. Seriously- and NO LIE- I looked like the Elephant Man. Or Elephant Woman, I guess. Just call me Elephant Girl. And that’s not a cool superpower.

Autumn: Jellyfish stings are brutal! Dante saved you though. *smiles* What are you the most afraid of?

Reece: Losing Dante. That’s what his brush with death gave me. A paranoid, obsessive fear that I will lose him to an accident or something. I’m just that neurotic, I guess. But seriously. I almost lost him twice. I have reason to be nervous. Right?

Autumn: I admit, I would be nervous too. If you could have one wish come true, what would it be?

Reece: I wish that everyone could find the happiness that I have found. I know, I know. That’s corny. But my life is turning out pretty dang good. Every morning, I wake up and think about how lucky I am to be so happy. I wish everyone could feel that way.

Autumn: That is a great wish! I'm so happy I got to meet you Reece! I really loved your story! You'll have to stop back sometime to give us an update on you and Dante.

Reece: Thank you for having me on your blog today, Autumn. Courtney told me wonderful things about you and they were all true!! You are awesome. J

  1. I'm really interested in reading Dante's Girl and more so after your blog post. A Kansas girl with a Prime Minister's son... sounds awesome. I'm a farm girl myself, grew up on a corn & soybean planting cattle raising, good ol' fashion farm... FFA girl & boots galore! I'm excited to see how Reece is as a character!
