Marisa Turner is a successful stylist to her famous brother Trey, has great friends, and a supportive family. So now, she is ready to settle down, get married and have babies. Marisa has watched her brother and best friends' all find that kind of happiness with envy. Now, she wants a commitment and Luc isn't ready to give it to her, but another man is.
Luc Spencer is, Marisa's brother, Trey's manager and best friend. He was hesitant to get involved with Marisa in the first place, but he fell for her anyway. And he fell hard. So, what's the problem? Luc has sworn not to marry and have kids. Because Luc won't bend on this issue, Marisa ends their relationship. It drives Luc wild seeing her with another guy. Can he let go of his past so he can have a future with Marisa before it's too late?
I've been enjoying reading this series, but I wasn't really excited about reading Luc's story. He's been my least favorite character in the series up to this point, but I'm pleased to say that my mind has been changed! After reading this book, I have a much better understanding of what makes Luc tick.
Marisa has been a favorite character since I began the series in Shameless. In fact, Shameless starts just as Marisa and Luc break up. So, we get to see what happens surrounding their situation up until this point. Marisa has pretty much let Luc determine the path in their relationship in the past. She's loved him since she was a teenager, so naturally has just followed where he led. So, I loved seeing her stand up to him and prepare to move on without him. Way to go girl!
Luc is a very complex man. He's successful, determined, brutal, respected, and intense. I enjoyed learning more about Luc's background. It helped me understand why he approached his relationship with Marisa the way he did. There is a big surprise that happens in this book too. I had a feeling there was a deeper reason as to why Luc felt so strongly against marriage and family, but it turned out to be more than I had thought. I'm really liking the direction the series is taking with that storyline.
Ultimately, I'm thrilled with how the story ended! I was also so happy to see the other characters, who I have developed soft spots for. I love to watch how characters develop within a series. I'm also really looking forward to future books in the series. There are some characters that we are slowly being introduced to that have a lot of potential for good, steamy, stories!
So far I've enjoyed all three books in the series. I'd say that Trey is probably still my favorite, but Luc's coming in close behind. This series is perfect for you if you're looking for a nice romantic read that has just the right amount of spice.
