The Mayfair Moon (The Darkwoods Trilogy 1) by J.A. Redmerski Review and Giveaway

The Mayfair Moon (The Darkwoods Trilogy 1) by J.A. Redmerski-YA Paranormal Romance
Kindle format given by author for review/blog tour

Adria Dawson and her sister Alex are victims of a werewolf attack. Of course, they can't tell anyone what's really happened, so they are sent to live with their uncle in Maine.

In the town of Hallowell, things aren't exactly as they appear. Adria's sister has become distant and withdrawn while Adria tries to adjust to living in a new place. Then Alex meets Isaac Mayfair.

There's something different about Isaac that Adria just can't explain. She's never really been attracted to a boy before, but Isaac seems to occupy her every thought. The attraction is mutual and although Isaac tries to stay away, he can't.

Adria's sister Alex has left to live with her boyfriend and his "family". Alex tried to convince Adria to come with her, but there is something about the situation that just isn't right. Adria finds support in Isaac and his family. The Mayfair's are a force to be reckoned with and Adria soon finds out that they are the only people she can trust.

As Adria becomes familiar with the world of werewolves, she learns secrets that would change everything.

My Take:
I haven't read any werewolf stories in a while, so it was fun to read one. I really enjoyed this book. It was a little darker and had more depth than I was expecting, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Adria was likable. I felt like I was able to connect to her character. She's got a somewhat quiet personality, but has strength. I liked seeing her relationship with Isaac blossom. Since this is her first relationship, I liked that things didn't become too physical with them right away. Isaac is a dark, brooding kind of guy that I immediately was attracted to. He has a magnetism that's undeniable.

The plot developed a little slowly, but it all came together in an interesting way. On occasion, it's easy to predict what will happen in a story and I thought I had a pretty good idea of the direction of this story, but I was presented with a few surprises. I love it when that happens and it makes me want to read more. The ending left me hanging and anxious to read the next book in the Trilogy. If you like werewolves with a touch of romance, this is a great book for you! For more information go to: J.A. Redmerski. 4 out of 5 stars
